Mobile Taekwondo Center

I was assigned to review Charles T. Taylor's website, and I must say it is pretty cool. I am not familiar with any kind of martial art, but his website has lots of pictures of people of all ages involved in it. I didn't realize that there would be so many people involved in it. Very cool.
The tables he used to line out the times that the different classes meet looks really good. All of his buttons worked, and all of the pictures very great quality. All of his html text seemed to be great, firefox didn't have any problems with it. Nothing was red.
Overall, Taylor's website was very well constructed, and very interesting.

Classmate's Website Review

I was lucky enough to get the chance to look over Kimberly Rushan's website, which was all about the cool things she wanted from Target. She did a great job, and she has very cool taste in decor. But, I'm supposed to talk about some of the bugs in it to be worked out. So here are some things that I found. Fist of all, some of the HTML code is showing on the pages above her buttons. Also, the rose picture page has no buttons at the bottom to navigate, and the Garnet brick pillow link isn't working. And one more thing, there is no picture of the Dinnerware set that she wants, which was disappointing. I wanted to see what it looked like.
All that aside, I think everything looked pretty good. Her HTML code could use a little polishing and cleaning up, then everything would work alright.

Spreadsheets

At first, I didn't really think that I would need to use spreadsheets as an English teacher. But now I see where they might could come in handy. The website that I found showed me how I could make time lines. They could be useful not only in showing historical value to literature, but I could make it more realistic to them and make a time line for the class.
Also, it would be useful in making and organizing my lesson plans. N only that, I could keep track of dates and grades with it. This tool could be very useful in keeping things orderly.

Mardi Gras Holiday

What did I do for Mardi Gras??? As little as possible! I didn't have to work that Tuesday, so I had the whole day all to myself. I read a little for a class, but thats the only responsible thing I did. I just hung out at my house the whole day and relaxed, it was great!

First and Second Grade Blog

Here's a picture of their pajama day.
Mrs. Cassidy's 1st and 2nd grade

I am actually very impressed with this blog. First of all, this blog is for first and second graders. That is pretty early to be computer literate. No, the students didn't write long blogs, just a sentence or two at a time, but the point is that they were blogging. Mrs. Cassidy also had some links to other class blogs, one in North Carolina and another in New Zealand so that her students could interact with students elsewhere. I also thought that this blog was a good tool for the parents. There were pictures of some of their class activities and special events. In fact, today was the 100th day of school and they celebrated with cookies shaped like the number 100. This blog is great for introducing young students to technology and incorporating the parents.

Fifth Grade Book Blog

Mrs. Fine's Book Blog

This fifth grade class is a great example of how a blog could be used in the classroom. Mrs. Fine requires her students to blog every week about the books they have been reading and to tell about the story and even recommend it to another student. Additionally, they are to comment on their classmates posts, so they can all get to know one another and their tastes as well as getting familiar with different books that they could all enjoy.

Blogging Potential

This has been my very first experience with blogging, and I was surprised that it was as easy as it is. When I was in high school, the curriculum never called for much technology other than keyboarding skills. However, I have noticed from younger students that a lot of things are changing. I think that computer skills and blogging could be an efficient tool in learning.
I am studying to become a high school English teacher, and I think I would enjoy incorporating blogging into my lesson plans. I am taking a literature class now that is requiring us to comment of stories and poems that we are reading in class. I think that I could use the same principles. English is much more than grammar, and responding to literature as well as writing could be a central theme to blog use.
Of course, the students would have to be monitored during blogging to ensure their safety. Unfortunately, online predators are getting very clever, and the students protection would have to be utmost. The Internet is not a completely dangerous place though, and I think that it could be used for good.

New Job

Today I start a new job. The job I left was the first place I've ever worked at and I've been there for a while. I made really good friends while I was there and now I'm going to work without them. To be honest, I'm a little nervous. I probably shouldn't be, but that doesn't stop it from being true. Its going to be really different from what I'm used to, but that doesn't mean I can't handle it. I just don't like change, and even though I'm sure it will be for the better, I'm still nervous.

Not a Morning Person

I don't know about you, but I am taking 8:00 classes every day this semester, and today I am regretting it. It seemed like a good idea, I could get an early start and be finished with school and have the rest of the day to go to work or do whatever. I really hate to complain about it though, a lot of people have to get up a lot earlier than I do every day. And in reality 8:00 isn't all that early. If I want to be a school teacher I'm going to have a lot of early days ahead of me. But this morning I had a really hard time talking myself into getting out of bed.

Its Cold Outside!

I am definately a southern girl through and through, and one thing that I hate is this cold weather! January was fine with me when I had the air conditioner on with short sleeves, but now I'm a little disappointed! I guess I'll just have to bundle up a little tighter.
